Over the last 9 years, we have all learned a new word: “Narcissist”. And we have been provided with a constant and obvious exemplar every single damn day.

“You’ve never seen anything like it.”

Narcissist: (NAR-si-SIST)

A narcissist is a person who is extremely self-centered and lacks empathy for other people. They crave admiration and attention. They exploit, lie, and manipulate others to fulfill their own desires. Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD) is a pathological condition in which a person lives in a severe and persistent state of narcissism

Narcissus was a character from ancient Greek mythology. Supposedly, he was so beautiful that he fell in love with his own reflection. He refused the love of all others, even refusing the sexual advances of the beautiful nymph, Echo, who could only repeat things that others said. Narcissus sat, staring at his reflection in a pool of water, for so long that he eventually died and withered away, his body turning into the beautiful flower, the narcissus.
