Modadenia fidelis is a native forest snail that lives in Western Oregon. It’s also called the Pacific Sideband Snail. They are big… like really big.  They are also fairly easy to raise in a terrarium where they seem to prefer to feed on lettuce. I’ve tried a lot of native plants, cucumbers, mushrooms, etc… but they really just want lettuce. I have a large adult of this species in my own terrarium that I raised from an egg. Its “mother” (they are hermaphrodites) laid a clutch of eggs in one of my classroom terrariums, and I kept one after they hatched (releasing its parents and siblings back into the wild). I’ve been keeping it for 2 years now. Now it’s fully grown.
